Poor starving college students... I feel so bad for them.
*In case it's a professor: Identify his subject and NEVER enter that field.

Not every college kid is poor. Some have mommy and daddy's money to lean on. I'm guessing this unfortunate Camaro's owner leans toward the latter.

Why do people put chrome all over their cars? Much less, the entire car? It looks horrible. It's illegal. Chrome is hideous!

That's why I joke about them. I lived in a college town for a few years and never actually met a truly "broke" college kid. The closest I found were people who just had to work while going to school *gasp*.

Perhaps it's my automotive guilty pleasure, but I don't hate chrome nearly as much as most people. I think that Camaro actually looks pretty cool. Is it excessive? Absolutely. Would I do it to my own car? Hell no. Do I like it? You bet your ass I do.
Maybe it's because I really like bare metal airplanes:

are you surprised? half of your classmates are from the middle east.

I disagree. While it should never be used as a primary body coating, chrome is far from hideous. When used in moderation as an accent or a highlight, it is quite attractive. For example see any American car from 1955
or any pickup made before 2007

Ok. I can see your point with the cars from the '50's. And I agree. Chrome trim looks good on those beasts. However, I have a 2000 Dakota. Forest green, chrome bumpers, grille and chrome nerf bars. Fuck that chrome. I dipped it all. Matte black grille, bumpers and as soon as I have a couple sunny, non-raining days in a row, I'm hitting the nerf bars as well.
I have some pics, I think. I should post them.

That's what makes vehicles so much fun. We can all express ourselves through our machines. I personally love the chrome grill and bumpers on my Dakota and would never paint them. With that matte black against the forest green, I'm sure yours will look mean.

I actually don't go there. It was my sister who snapped the picture.
